make double jump universal (flow stone would e.g add a third dash/jump)

After having played for 100+ hours I have gotten the impression that in the overall meta the flow stone is so important for aerial mobility that I'm actually starting to think having a double jump be the default already could be really good for the overall game experience
(like how right now equipping flow stone is basically a neceessiry and there is this unspoken rule that we don't cube-launch spam someone who's not wearing a flow stone)
I think that at least the one aerial jump/dash should be a part of everyone's moveset to allow for more expressiveness throughout
Any thoughts on this?

Flowstone shouldn't be default. It's a different way of playing and so it should feel like a investment. If something is used by so many putting it by default will just crystalize the trend and push the game to look like a constant jumping and jumping fest. Aerial playstyles are cool and great, but there should be just that playstyles. Don't limit variety by giving an easy method of doing anything, for free.

I'm not sure we need a third dash/jump (while I don't deny I would love it, it seems like it may be a bit strong) but I think flowstone should be the default regardless.

I have mixed feelings about this.
On one hand, flow stone is a solid staple of the current meta and is a must-have for many of the more mobility-based playstyles. It is fun to use (makes you feel really cool) and I personally really love it.
On the other hand, this may be symptomatic of the flow stone being too powerful compared to the other stones. I have always been of the belief that the flow stone is the best stone in the game (definitely up for debate) or, failing that, one of the best.
Rather than making the shift stone part of the kit by default, the issue could be solved by buffing the other stones and giving players more reason to use the other stones.
There are quite a few stones that I would love to use and just wish were more effective in game (personally the one I want to see buffed most is the vigor stone). If these weaker stones are improved, it can make flow-less playstyles more viable and create a greater degree of variability in high-level playstyles.
If double jumping is made part of the kit by default, I would probably want the air-jump to be made into its own move with a pose similar to the regular jump pose. With regards to progression, I would want the air jump to be acquired later through the belts (maybe around red or black belt).

SirUnity I feel like they should do all of this, shift stones should be improved and more focused on improving gameplay than changing it (charge stone and guard stone come to mind). Double jump and air dash should be there own moves unlocked in later belts as you were saying, they should be variations of their normal counterparts. Even if none of this is done I believe flow stone in its current state is too vital to be part of a side mechanic in the game.

I'd have to agree. I feel like it makes the game better as a whole and not having it on just makes you feel like aerial movement is almost discouraged from how punishing it is to juat be a fish out of water up there.
