Losing more GC than the item cost

I had around 5066 GC, I bought the "Cabbage Fiend" player title that cost 150 GC, went to the park and then returned to the Gym to find out I have now 4580 GC.
I tried to quit the game and re-enter it and saw that the number stayed the same.
